Creating Healthy Boundaries

The setting of healthy boundaries during the divorce process is a critical step towards personal growth and healing; clear boundaries will help you define your objectives, protect your emotional and physical well-being, and assert your independence. In order to establish boundaries with your former partner, we will need to identify the types of behavior or actions that trigger negative emotions, or cause harm: this can include anything from excessive or negative phone calls or texts, to undue interference in your personal life. But there are other kinds of boundaries that need to be put in place – with your ex’s family, with common friends, with your children, and even in yourself.

In this 60-minute zoom call, we will cover

-       When to start setting boundaries

-       How to establish boundaries with your ex’s family, with common friends, and in your social milieu

-       How to keep a child-first mindset while limiting communication and access

-       How to create boundaries in a new home without the influence of your former partner

-       How to establish which messages are important, and which must be ignored

-       How to implement the BIFF method of communication

-       How to communicate your boundaries clearly and consistently to your former partner and the other agents involved

Creating or Modifying Your Parenting Plan

Divorce is a difficult and emotional process for every responsible parent who must negotiate new dynamics in raising the children. Setting in place the appropriate parenting plan from the outset will provide clarity and communication between the parts, as well as structure and stability for the children. A solid, comprehensive parenting plan is essential to avoid future conflict, but the cookie-cutter plans proposed by lawyers and mediators cannot take into consideration the needs and the nuances of your particular situation. In this session I will help you identify your particular needs and wants, preparing you for the legal steps necessary to implement a convenient agreement.

Specifically, in this 60-minute call we will:

-       Examine the laws of your State regulating divorce and co-parenting

-       Consider the differences between parallel parenting and co-parenting

-       Analyze your specific needs in order to prioritize your objectives

-       Piece together the appropriate parenting plan for your situation, regarding your comfort while maintaining a child-first mindset

-       Envision together the next steps in negotiating your agreement with lawyers, mediators, and the counterpart

Navigating Divorce From a High-Conflict Ex-Spouse

Even if each situation is distinct, navigating your separation from a high conflict ex-spouse is invariably a difficult and stressful experience, which may impact negatively not only the outcome of the divorce, but also the experience of the children involved.

After a free 30-minute consultation, where we define your wants and objectives, I will acquire specific information about your situation, examine the laws regulating divorce and, if the case, co-parenting specific to your state. In the following three 45-minute zoom calls, we will address conflicts, issues, and scenarios that are making difficult to separate the emotions towards your ex versus what is important for you and your children.

Multiple contacts are necessary to create an ongoing relationship, in which I will teach you how to

-       Keep communication brief and effective

-       Harness your response to negative situations

-       Relinquish control when the children are with the other parent

-       Consider alternative resolution methods

-       Create your individual goals to reshape a healthy, happy emotional life
